U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has worked hard to help realize the full potential of existing immigration laws. To do that, we need to leverage our immigration laws to make sure that the next generation of international entrepreneurs continues creating jobs right here in America.
Recently, USCIS announced a series of initiatives to encourage economic growth through our immigration policy. We are making important changes in the way we adjudicate cases in the EB-5 immigrant investor program, a program designed to create jobs in America. We launched the Entrepreneurs in Residence initiative to help ensure that our policies and processes reflect the realities of the businesses we serve by bringing industry expertise in-house. October 28, 2011 - Washington, DC - Today the Statue of Liberty celebrates her 125th birthday! To commemorate the big day, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) held a special naturalization ceremony at her home on Liberty Island. Exactly 125 immigrants, including 14 members of the military took the Oath of Allegiance and were welcomed as new U.S. citizens.
Welcoming remarks were provided by the Superintendent of the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, David Luchsinger, followed by the call of countries and presentation of candidates for citizenship by USCIS New York District Director, Andrea Quarantillo. October 25, 2011 - Washington, DC - U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) Director Alejandro Mayorkas today announced the launch of an enhanced Employment Authorization Document (EAD) and a redesigned Certificate of Citizenship (Form N-560) with new features to strengthen security and deter fraud.
